An Arcus cloud crossed France from west to east this week. The huge roller flew over the sky of Strasbourg in a few minutes at daybreak on Friday August 25. A resident took out his phone to film it.
“When I saw it, I thought “Wow!” but what is this ?“Twenty-four hours after observing the Arcus cloud from his terrace, Daniel Amet is still very impressed. After crossing France from west to east, the roller flew over the Strasbourg sky around 7:15 a.m. on Friday August 25.
When Daniel Amet saw it, he immediately took out his mobile phone to immortalize the scene: “A stroke of luck, I’m not usually awake at this time” says this resident of the Meinau district. “It was really beautiful to see. A bit like in the desert when you see a cloud of sand coming.“
The astonishing cloud was seen all over France this week. Dark and quite disturbing, it forms in very specific conditions (when it is warmer on the ground than in the sky) and can be several kilometers long. Followed by a cumulonimbus, it announces the arrival of severe weather.

The arcus did not go unnoticed this week. Many Internet users shared photos and videos on the networks during his visit. Daniel heard about it later that day: “Someone said to me “Yes, it’s the cloud that crossed France!“
