Afghan visa requests have been processed by American diplomats around the world, according to the US Embassy in Afghanistan, which has now moved from Kabul to Qatar.

The embassy said in a statement on Friday that the practice would not stop.

In August 2021, when withdrawing its troops from Afghanistan, the United States also evacuated several tens of thousands of Afghans.

Thousands more Afghans are looking for opportunities to flee Afghanistan, hoping to settle in the United States or some other western country.

The Taliban, which came to power after the withdrawal of the NATO military contingent, pursues a radical Islamist policy. Among other things, women are now only allowed to obtain primary school education.

Many Afghans live in dire conditions in Afghanistan’s neighboring countries, such as Iran and Pakistan, while waiting for a visa.

Data from the US State Department show that more than 152,000 Afghans have currently applied for special immigration visas.
