– Unfortunately, we have to stop the concerts temporarily due to the weather, said a representative from the festival over the public address system at Koengen at 4.40pm, according to Bergens Tidende.
The interruption came in the middle of a performance from Anna Of The North.
The general manager of Bergen Live, Frank Nes, tells VG that the sudden break was due to a lightning strike nearby.
– It is as simple as that we have procedures in place in connection with lightning strikes. When it gets too close to the safety zone, we are required to stop the concerts temporarily.
In an update at 17.40, Nes states that they will resume the festival at 18.15. It will then be Marstein who will be on stage.
Tove Lo was originally supposed to perform at 5.40pm – but the artist has had to cancel due to illness.

– The weather was beautiful until half an hour ago, then there was a sudden rain shower. There are quite a few people who have left the area because of the rain.
– I thought you Bergens could stand a little rain?
– Yes, absolutely. But this is exactly at odds with all weather reports for the day. The way the day started, I don’t think many people were dressed for this.
Nes emphasizes that it was lightning in the immediate area, not the rain, that was the reason for the break.
