Together we will get ahead is called the initiative that seeks to collect money for students and officials who have lost all or a significant part of their belongings.
More than a meter high, the water reached the flooded houses in various parts of the Region. A reality that has affected more than a thousand families in Maule and other parts of Chile and from which different people who study or work at the University could not escape and have caused significant losses of their assets and undermined their well-being.
For this reason, while efforts to help affected people are multiplying today, the Catholic University of Maule, faithful to its traditional spirit of service, has organized a campaign to benefit those who are suffering the ravages of the climate emergency.
“This campaign is designed to help after the emergency has passed, when the mud has gone and we have to see how those affected get up again and can resume their lives, recover their home and everything they need to get ahead. And that is why as a community our priority is our employees and students”, sums up Orietta Dennett, Director of Communications at UCM.
Then the student general director Karin Alvarado explained that to define the beneficiaries “a cadastre was carried out at the level of students and officials, in order to determine who are the people who require help and institutionally attention is being focused on them.”
Soledad González, director of People Management, added that the objective is “to collect money to be able to effectively help with what each of those affected in our university community needs”, emphasizing that all contributions, from a thousand pesos, which is the minimum that can be donated on the platform is welcome.
Therefore, the institutional call is for everyone to collaborate, either by donating or spreading the word.
Regarding how to contribute, Dennett explains that “it is done through the donation page hosted on the institutional portal (https://donaciones.ucm.cl/donar/), which is a checkout button on the same page.”
Coordination with ues. of the G9
Seeking to increase the level of impact of the solidarity campaign and thus be able to reach the entire country, the Universidad Católica del Maule has made contact with other higher education institutions, in this case, with those that belong to the G9 and other alliances. that the UCM has, adding even the private world to the initiative.
Orietta Dennett explained this. “We are carrying out this campaign in coordination with the G9 universities and with other of our university networks, through the rector and directors, to have a greater reach and greater support.”
Finally, the three institutional spokespersons for the campaign emphasized that in this call to collaborate neither food nor cleaning items are being requested, because the objective is to attend to the multiple needs after the emergency, to arrive with concrete and much-needed help. as is money.
