The sentence has now been meted out in the murder case from November last year, which has attracted attention in the UK.
According to Manchester Evening News Michael Hillier and Rachel Fulstow have been sentenced to 33 and 30 years in prison respectively for the murder of electrician and father of two Liam Smith (38).
Planned “revenge”
Hillier shot Smith in the face at the latter’s home in the English town of Wigan, before dousing the body in sulfuric acid.

In court, Hillier explained that the murder was revenge after the deceased allegedly assaulted his girlfriend Rachel Fulstow during a Tinder date several years earlier.
The Manchester Evening News writes that the couple must have planned the revenge action for ten months, before Hillier turned up at Smith’s home in Wigan.
Go on holiday
Just days after the murder, the couple is said to have gone on holiday to Jamaica, the newspaper further reports, referring to a number of holiday photos that have been secured by British police.
Hillier was arrested when they returned to England. Fulstow initially had the status of a witness, before she too was suspected of having participated in the crime.
