Discover the 6th History Book Day at the Fortified Church of Toucy

On August 26, history unfolds openly in the superb fortified church of Toucy. Whether you like history, books or both, this 6e History Book Day is for you!

When in 2016, he sold his bookstore Plume et Image to Tonnerre, Jan Jac Ricard did not see himself winning: ” I had this idea of creating a book fair. After observation, I realized that general trade fairs had trouble finding their audience, so we chose the history book niche, thinking that it would be more promising. »

Attract young people

Toucy’Storic was born. Cleverly, the living room moved into the fortified church of Saint-Pierre de Toucy. ” It is an emblematic, vast, luminous place which dominates the city, a high place of heritage, therefore steeped in history. I didn’t see us settling in a multipurpose room », explains the president of the organizing committee. The thousand visitors to the first edition prove its creators right, which Pierre Larousse, Toucy’s child, would no doubt have appreciated.

Like previous editions, the 6e Toucy’s History Book Day aims to be entertaining, open, educational and varied: novels, essays, documents, comics, children’s books…” We are open to all disciplines, but also to all periods of history. Our idea is to attract young people first. The latter will also be able to participate in workshops on the sidelines of the show, for example to learn how to draw a character in the company of the illustrator Camille Raveau (Will et Isabelle).

With Jeanne du Barry and Colette

This year, the president of Toucy’Storic will be the media Jean Garrigues, president of the Parliamentary and Political History Committee, author of books on General Boulanger and the France of the Ve Republic in particular. He will host the meeting-debate “The Republic, a turbulent history” with Bernard Lecomte. The writer and historian Cecile Berly will be the guest of honor at the show. As a great specialist of the XVIIIe century and the cause of women, she will discuss her work on Olympe de Gouges, Marie-Antoinette or Jeanne du Barry, to whom a cinema evening will be devoted on August 25. Colette will also be there, alongside “Notre Colette”, a conference by Frédéric Maget, the director of Maison Colette in Saint-Sauveur-en-Puisaye. Without forgetting many meetings in perspective with the forty writers and publishers announced.
