According to the Ukrainians, it was Neptune. While the world is preoccupied with questions about the downing of Prigozhin’s plane, another remarkable thing is being investigated on the battlefields: how the Russians lost their most advanced system, the S-400 Triumf.

In yesterday’s Battle Development, we wrote about the decommissioning of the Russian battery of the S-400 system, which is located in occupied Crimea. According to the latest information from Ukrainian sources, the 48Ya6-K1 Podlet reconnaissance radar, which represents the “eyes” of the system, should have been destroyed (original reports spoke of the destruction of the S-400 launcher).

The radar allowed S-400 operators to pick up and target low-flying targets as well as ballistic missiles within hundreds of kilometers. However, Kyiv did not reveal how it could have been destroyed. It was just generally said that the decommissioning of the S-400 system was part of a larger operation in which the Ukrainians used drones, missiles and special forces landings directly in occupied Crimea.

More explanation he offered early Thursday evening, the influential Ukrainian journalist Yuriy Butusov. According to his sources, the main role was played by the Ukrainian Neptun anti-ship missiles, already known from last year’s sinking of the cruiser Moskva.
