Former Vice President of the United States said: States can either send weapons to Ukraine, or in the future they will be forced to fight.
Former US Vice President Mike Pence has harshly criticized his opponent in the Republican Party primaries, Vivic Ramaswamy, who advocates stopping aid to Ukraine in the war with Russia.
During debate Pence said that a Russian victory in Ukraine is the main threat to the United States and NATO, so the American side has a choice: either provide Kiev with weapons or send its troops to the territory of the North Atlantic Alliance in the future to repel the Russian invasion.
In addition, Pence called Ramaswamy a communist, and Russian President Vladimir Putin a murderer and dictator, which caused applause in the hall.
During the debate, Ramaswami called for the end of support for Ukraine in order “not to drive the Kremlin even more into the hands of Beijing,” and before the debate he said that it was necessary to allow the Russian Federation to maintain control over some of the captured Ukrainian territories in exchange for Russia cutting ties with China.
After the debate, explaining his statements to the media, he said that he was against providing assistance to Ukraine, as it “meets the interests of the United States.” According to Ramaswamy, the war in Ukraine will allegedly end “right now” if Washington “stops funding it.”
Recall, according to the polls, Ramaswami ranks third (7%) among Republicans applying for participation in the US presidential election. He is behind Donald Trump (62%) and Ron DeSantis (16%). Pence is outside the top three with 5%.
Analysts have noted that Trump’s ratings are rising despite problems with the law, but this does not guarantee him an overall victory, since his anti-rating is high among Democrats and undecided voters.
