This Thursday, Sporting presented its new squad to the fans at Pavilhão João Rocha. In the attribution of the traditional Stromp Trophy, the lions beat Marítimo by 33-26.
The formation commanded by Ricardo Costa made known its reinforcements for 2023/24: central Jan Gurri, wingers Pedro Portela and Orri Thorkelsson, laterals Rafael Vasconcelos and João Gomes and pivot Benjamin Jakobsen.
With four goals, João Gomes was the best scorer for the lions, who face FC Gaia tomorrow in the final test for the Iberian Super Cup: Barcelona will be the opponents in the semi-final, on September 2, in Viana do Castelo.
“We were able to try several things and play a good game against a team that will be very difficult in the championship. We are prepared for what comes next”, said Ricardo Costa at the end.
