Film historian, screenwriter and columnist Pavel Taussig died on Thursday. He was 74 years old. The Zlín Film Festival informed about it on Facebook. Taussig left a distinct and unforgettable mark on him, said the organizers of the Zlín International Film Festival for Children and Youth.
“He was a regular guest and collaborator of the festival, he also participated in its dramaturgy and in 2019 he prepared a discussion for the late director Josef Pinkava’s centenary,” said festival spokesperson Kateřina Martykánová.
Taussig was the author of the theme for Jan Svěrak Kolj’s Oscar-winning film from 1996. His most famous work was probably the documentary series Úsměvy českého film. He was also the author of books and TV shows about domestic cinema and the fate of movie stars. Taussig was born on July 2, 1949 in Olomouc.
