Final Stop: Awake: Women, Art and Identity Exhibition Concludes After Visiting Nine Municipalities in Cuenca

The exhibition of the fourth edition of the project “Awake: Women, Art and Identity” comes to an end after visiting nine municipalities in the province of Cuenca.

The coordinator of Culture of the Junta de Comunidades de Castilla-La Mancha, Yolanda Rozalén, has inaugurated the exhibition in the town of Moya, specifically in the Convent of the Conceptionist Nuns, where it can be visited from August 22 to September 3.

This will be the last stop of the works after touring the towns of Cuenca, where it was inaugurated in March; Enguídanos, Alarcón, Villagarcía del Llano, Iniesta, Villar de la Encina, Almendros and Torrejoncillo del Rey.

Rozalén, who was accompanied by the mayor of Moya, Fernando Igual, and several councilors; has been very satisfied with the reception given to the fourth edition of the “Despiertas” project, which aims to work for the equality of men and women through art, make the work of women artists visible and break the gender gap which also exists in this field.

In this sense, he highlighted that a total of 32 artists have participated in the contest this year and that many of them “are already waiting for this annual event”.

“Despiertas, Mujeres, Arte e Identidad” is an initiative of the Junta de Comunidades de Castilla-La Mancha, through the Women’s Institute; and the Cuenca Provincial Council, in collaboration with the State Pact Against Gender Violence
