Most Hispanics in the United States are not worried about making a will, but many who do not have one could only be inheriting problems for their relatives.
However, the percentage rises to 82 when it comes to Hispanics, who are the population group that leaves a legal will the least.
If people do not have a will, their assets will have to be distributed under New York State intestacy law.
This can give rise to family fights that can reach legal instances and can have a high cost for those involved.
In the case of New York State, making a legal document that functions as a will is a simple process and should not take a lot of time.
You can do it without the need for a lawyer, but it is recommended that if you have family problems, children out of wedlock, or some type of legal problem with any property, consult an expert.
You have to be over 18 years old. Be in use of your faculties. Write your will in writing. Have two witnesses sign the document in front of you and attest that it was written freely. It is not necessary to go before a notary to make it legal.
In your will you can decide about the following:
Your properties: cars, houses, jewelry, items in general. You can leave them to people or organizations. You can name a legal guardian for your children if they are minors, and you can name them an executor to take care of property that you will inherit when they are older. Appoint an executor who is in charge of fulfilling your will expressed in the will.
You can make your will for free online
The Free Will organization puts at your disposal a tool to make a will easily and free of charge.
