Creative head of the studio NetherRealm and creator of the series Mortal Kombat Ed Boone discussed Homelander (The Boys) and Omni-Man (Invincible) abilities coming to Mortal Kombat 1 as part of the first Kombat Pack.
Both characters resemble Superman in that they also possess superhuman strength and durability, as well as the ability to fly. The similar abilities of Homelander and Omni-Man (except for heat vision – only Homelander has it) caused many players to question their similar fighting styles. However, Boone assured fans that the characters would not be mere clones of each other.
According to him, the fighting styles of both heroes, Homelander and Omni-Man, will be different and will not completely copy Superman. The developers are aware of the players’ experience, but ensure that the characters have different basic attacks. It seems that Homelander’s thermal vision, which was seen in the trailer, can already be considered the main difference between his abilities and Omni-Man.
Mortal Kombat 1 will release on September 19th for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch.
Previously, journalistic previews of the game were released, praising the start of the story campaign, the new Invasion mode, and the implementation of the Cameo mechanic. The latter opens the door to the potential appearance of Batman in a fighting game, since cameo fighters do not commit fatalities – about it told Ed Boon himself.
