Blackened straw from which curls of smoke escape and a burnt smell still very present in the air. This is the decor that embellished the walk of the residents of Peyragrosse on Tuesday.
On the night of Saturday to Sunday, shortly before 1 a.m., the firefighters intervened to contain a fire that had taken hold at an agricultural shed, 700 meters from the town of Loudes. After managing to avoid any risk of spread, the soldiers of the fire had no other choice but to let the hay burn. Smoke therefore escaped from the fodder which was consumed in the days that followed. , and Tuesday again. The emergency services have naturally set up surveillance of the premises, in order to avoid any risk of recovery.
The mayor of Loudes, Laurent Barbalat, also issued an order to prohibit traffic, in both directions, on the access road to the disaster.
This is a safety measure to facilitate the work of firefighters. I would also like to salute the speed of their intervention which made it possible to avoid any spread.
The origin of this fire remains undetermined for the time being, but it could be due to the fermentation of plants amplified by the ambient heat. The last fumaroles were to be seen on Wednesday, with much of the huge stock of hay now completely consumed.
