According to Starfield and Bethesda publishing executive Pete Hines, some of the best RPG quests might not even be actual quests, but rather surprising moments or stories found through exploration and various activities.

Speaking at Gamescom 2023 today, Hines spoke about his own experience playing Starfield. While casually mentioning that he’s been in Starfield for about 150 hours and there’s still a lot he hasn’t seen yet, Hines was quick to give players some helpful tips.

My only advice is don’t ignore activities. It’s like the one-off things the game gives you, but there are some amazing things in there that don’t even feel like a real quest, but will take you to amazing places, amazing stories.

We encourage you to play this game like any other game. [Bethesda Game Studios]: do what you want, go where you want, be the player you want to be, experience this world and see what happens.

Hines concluded, emphasizing the importance of player decisions and storytelling in Starfield.

If you ask anyone about their memories of games like Skyrim and Fallout 4, they will tell you about some crazy moment that is completely different from the usual. Bethesda games are always big, and Starfield is clearly no exception, and it looks like the studio has gone to great lengths to hide every aspect that players can discover for themselves.
