In the south of Spain, Andalusia no longer seems to be just the dream spot of experienced surfers, or tourists who love Mediterranean flavours. The region, between heavenly beaches and rocky mountains, has also become a serious place to party, hosting new very nice scenes. Small round trip.
The beaches of the Costa del Sol, the Alhambra in Granada, or the traditional montaditos de pringá ‑tapas made with meat stew. Here is a sample of what Andalusia has to offer, a region nestled in the far south of Spain, bordered by the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. But far from its local traditions, its gastronomy, its hospitality and its Mediterranean landscapes between mountains and beaches, the region intends to become a new land of celebration. Let’s leave aside the joyful lively village festivals, which add atmosphere to the long summer evenings. Because Andalusia sees bigger, with festivals bringing together live performances in the middle of a very sympathetic geographical and culinary heritage. We offer you a tour of the region in three stages.
Andalusia is a celebration where the land has its place. As at Seville Interstellar Festival, located between the Andalusian Center for Contemporary Arts and the majestic Cartuja Monastery. A one-of-a-kind two-day event, where the show is not just on stage, but all around the festival-goers. A good example of the treasures that the region contains. On the programming side, to each his own with a mix of pop artists, but also rock, with the quartet La la Love You… Without forgetting the electronic component, with local artists like Alexander Som, The Blonde Clicks or Ley DJ. The festival, which was held a few months ago, is doing it again for 2024 and has already announced the date, May 17 and 18.
Another atmosphere, festival Bahia Sound, in the city of Cádiz, where the emphasis is on parties and music as well as on gastronomy, all in an atmosphere that denotes traditional festivals: a swimming pool area reserved for festival-goers. In July and August, the Bahia Sound is punctuated by concerts, DJ sets, but also a restaurant offering dishes in the image of the region. On stage to liven up the evenings, the flamenco boss took turns Miguel Povedathe metal group Saurom or the Spanish rockers the sea.
Each festival is a unique opportunity to listen to live music in different cities of the region and live an unforgettable cultural and festive experience. Last turn towards the festival Granada Sound, which as its name suggests settled in the historic city of Granada. On the program of this festival, which will be held on September 15 and 16: stages around the city, where artists of various styles, between rock, pop and folk, will parade. For these two days of celebrations, the festival mainly welcomes big names from the Spanish music scene, such as the Latin rock band Viva Sueciamore aussi Varry brava (Saturday), or Vetusta Morla et Amaia. All in an extraordinary setting. Between two concerts, it’s time to visit the archaeological sites of the Alhambra, such as the Mosque-Cathedral of Cordoba.
Andalusia offers a new playground, where festival experiences, culinary explorations and the discovery of Spain’s national heritage are combined.
