Actor Jānis Āmanis Opens up About Divorce and Leaving the Theater

Although Āmanis does not mention specific reasons for the divorce, he admits during the conversation that he heard disparaging remarks about his profession from his wife. “It is already a profession in which such asexuality arises because it is your colleague and that’s all,” says Āmanis.

The famous actor admits that he has been honest with his wife, but there are many things where honesty has disappeared. “I have not been honest in many things, and I can admit that, yes, of course. Everyone has had it. [..] I have worked a lot with whether what I see, what I want to see, is really what I see. To teach to understand the understanding of the situation.”

Speaking about leaving the theater, Āmanis says that he was inspired to make this decision by a special woman who was by his side at the right moment and strengthened his self-confidence.

Actor Jānis Āmanis had spent 16 years on the theater stage, simultaneously filming in various television and cinema projects. A month before the new season, he submitted his resignation, ending his acting profession forever. He thought about the decision to leave the theater for a long time, but the last push was given by an inspiring woman who was by his side in a difficult moment. “Communicating more with a person, helping him, long conversations and more, I began to understand my value. [..] A man raises a woman’s self-esteem and a woman raises a man’s self-esteem, that’s the interaction.”

Remembering the time when he started thinking about change, he admits that it was the right decision: “It wasn’t a moment of weakness, but it was a strong, powerful moment of reflection, where anxiety comes, thank you for being there and helping. Women are terrible liars, but they allow you to help that man, only because then you will feel like a woman and a man like a man.”
