The actor Jordi Mollá, who in recent times had focused on his artistic facet
The Catalan actor’s career has always been most unexpected. You never know where he’s going to come out. The fact is that in recent times something had disappeared. He had appeared in some international production, but with little or no impact, such as the film with John Travolta, Faster than death (2018).
However, it seems that Jordi Mollá is back and will present two films at the Venice Festival, the first of them as the lead. This is Aggro Dr1ft, by the always subversive and experimental Harmony Korine, responsible for iconic titles such as the generational Spring Breakers, in which Selena Gomez appeared and writer of the seminal Kids (1995).
At the moment, little is known about this film, only that it stars the Martian tandem formed by Jordi Mollá and the rapper Travis Scott, who after sweeping their latest album, is involved in several film projects and has just been released online (and for the moment for free on YouTube) Circus Maximus, a collection of shorts and a live show that serve as an accompaniment precisely to his album Utopia. Among the directors of these segments, we find Harmony Korine himself, Gaspar Noé, Nicolas Winding Refn and Valdimar Jóhansson.

Apparently, Aggro Dr1ft promises to be a real madness shot with thermodynamic cameras through augmented reality and revolves around a brooding assassin named Bo who is tasked with killing a demonic crime lord. During his time at the Locarno Festival, the director himself declared that he had never done anything like this and that it was very likely that it would become a scandal, so the expectation is maximum, since it was shot in the utmost secrecy and the mix of registers (action, gangsters and devils) is unpredictable.
Javier Bardem, Penélope Cruz, Jordi Mollá and Stefania Sandrelli in ‘Jamón, jamón’, by Bigas Luna
The other film with Jordi Mollá that can be seen in Venice is Pet Shop Boys, directed by Julian Schnabel’s son, Olmo Schnabel, which stars Willem Dafoe, Peter Sarsgaard, Emmanuelle Seigner.
Jordi Mollá, who became known in Jamón, jamón, along with Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem, had his golden age in the 1990s, one of his great roles being La buena estrella, for which he was nominated for a Goya. In 2003 he began his international career in the Michael Bay film Bad Boys II, starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. We also saw him in Elizabeth: The Golden Age, with Cate Blanchett, in the adventure film In the Heart of the Sea, by Ron Howard, along with Chris Hemsworth and the last one had been Jack Ryan, by Tom Clancy, a character played by John Krasinsky.
