Music The Dutch selection committee for next year’s Eurovision Song Contest is complete, singer Jaap Reesema (38) joins the group, writes ‘AD’. Reesema is known to us for his participation in ‘Love for music’.
According to TV network AVROTROS, Reesema brings ‘a wealth of valuable knowledge and experience’ and is ‘in contact with a range of Dutch artists and producers, so that the music industry is widely represented’.
“I think it’s really great to have the opportunity to contribute to creating great international success for a Dutch product,” Reesema explains. “Look at the winning song ‘Arcade’ by Duncan Laurence. It now has more than 1 billion Spotify streams, unprecedented! The Eurovision Song Contest can do that for a song and for an artist. I am convinced that we have enough talented, creative people in the Netherlands to take the win again and I will dedicate myself 100 percent to make that happen.”
Armin van Buuren
According to the committee chairman, “many unknown and well-known artists” have already signed up to represent the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest that will be held in Sweden next year. The selection committee hopes to make a final choice no later than mid-December.
Reesema was still in the running to become the Dutch entry in 2021. He then submitted a song with Armin van Buuren, but was ultimately not chosen by the committee.
