Cracking the Cipher: How to Win Kazm’s Million Dollar Challenge

Getting Kazm’s $1 million sounds tempting. But it doesn’t have to be easy at all.

Kazm’s film ONEMANSHOW: The Movie drove the entire Czech Republic crazy. Putting aside conflicting opinions about its quality and ultimately the content or message itself, viewers are driven by the vision of a $1 million profit that seemingly anyone can make. At first glance, the rules are simple – you just have to crack the cipher associated with the film, find out the ten-digit code and use it together with your plastic card to unlock the safe. However, it starts to seem that the whole thing can be a little more complicated, whether we are talking about the full text of the rules or simply about the fact that cracking the cipher will not be easy at all. In theory, someone can figure it out decades from now, as in the case of the famous puzzle of the serial killer known as the Zodiac.

To the topic: How to win Kazma’s Million Dollars? The secret code is just the beginning, here’s the full tutorial

It was Zodiac’s code “340” from 1969, which in its form significantly resembles the code from Kazm’s film, was only deciphered in 2020, i.e. 51 long years after it arrived at the editorial office of the San Francisco Chronicle. So, when the year 2074 is written, Kamil Bartošek, celebrating his 89th birthday, can continue to wait impatiently for someone to take the money he won (if no one uses the only card that unlocks the safe without a code).

Decades you don’t have

If we would like to look for certain links between the two mentioned ciphers, it is mainly about the number of combinations that create the symbols on the 90 concrete blocks. It is also necessary to mention that whole teams of cryptographers were involved in the Zodiac and its ciphers, who were simply unable to crack the mystery. All contemporary and modern decryption methods were repeatedly applied, yet the years passed and the 340 cipher remained a mystery. In the end, she only managed to understand at a time when people spent a lot of time at home due to the coronavirus pandemic and had the space to deal with things that they might have completely overlooked under normal circumstances.

Those who took credit for breaking the Zodiac cipher were hobbyists, but they looked down the proverbial rabbit hole and didn’t want to get out. Namely, it was the American David Oranchak, the Belgian Jarl Van Eycke and the Australian Sam Blake, who combined their skills – especially their fondness for solving puzzles and programming – with the help of which they obtained an encrypted message. However, the result of their efforts was an anomaly of sorts, not a rule or guide to cracking such obscure ciphers, which brings us back to the fact that it may be unlikely that anyone will crack Kazma’s cipher within the time limit – even if the key is hidden somewhere in the code itself. movie.

Rules that work against you

However, the obstacle on the way to 1 million dollars is not only 90 stones drawn in all possible ways and clues from the movie, which are supposed to reveal the meaning of individual symbols. It is also good to think about the full wording of the rules, which state, for example, that if a competitor behaves “socially inappropriately” in the vault area, he may be denied access to it. In case you run there with the cracked code, be sure not to cause any trouble in the queue!

Also think about the part of the rules that excludes robots or automated systems from the game. Although it only mentions one of the most famous AI “gibberish” – ChatGPT – this effectively means that you probably can’t use any decryption software to crack the cipher. This makes revealing the 10-digit code an even more complicated matter, further complicated by the fact that the winner still has to sufficiently demonstrate how he obtained the code and how he proceeded. His findings must correspond to the description of the only correct solution as the contest organizer came up with it, so don’t rely on guessing the code by pure chance.

In short, you have to puzzle your head out while watching the film and on a trip to the cipher itself, which stands near Lysá nad Labem. Good luck, hopefully it cracks before Zodiac’s!
