Recruitment of many international students at job fairs
‘Expansion’ such as planning/marketing/office work/secretary in addition to R&D
Selected as a best practice for recruiting foreign workers… Foreign interest ‘↑’
ThinkForBL (CEO Park Ji-hwan), an artificial intelligence (AI) technology company, is accelerating the recruitment of foreign talent to preemptively respond to the rapidly changing global AI market. At the ‘Global Talent Fair 2023 (formerly Foreign Student Recruitment Fair)’ held on the 21st and 22nd at COEX in Seoul, the company plans to recruit around 10 people by conducting recruitment-related consultations and interviews for foreign students living in Korea. ThinkForBL, an artificial intelligence (AI) technology company, is accelerating the recruitment of foreign talent to preemptively respond to the rapidly changing global AI market.
Think4BL conducted recruitment-related consultations and interviews for foreign students living in Korea at the ‘Global Talent Fair 2023 (formerly Foreign Student Recruitment Fair)’ held at COEX on the 21st and 22nd.
During the two days of the event, about 450 people, including those who made reservations in advance (about 200) and those who registered on-site (about 250), visited the company’s booth, and about 60 people were interviewed in person. The company announced that it had selected around 10 of them as suitable candidates for employment, and would give them the opportunity to officially join the company after discussing the terms of employment with them. In addition, as an unexpectedly large number of people showed interest, the company plans to hold additional interviews at the company by setting a separate day for some of the job seekers who did not get an opportunity in the field due to time constraints.
Regarding the fact that more foreigners applied for jobs than in previous years, Thinkforviel cited the fact that the number of job seekers who visited the event increased as the ‘Corona 19’ epidemic subsided as a factor. In addition, it is believed that the expansion of the recruitment field, which was limited to the research and development (R&D) job group until last year, to the ‘web design’, ‘management support’, ‘marketing’, ‘office management’, and ‘secretary’ job groups also played a role.
The reason the company expanded its recruiting field to increase foreign hires was possible not only because it created an open and flexible internal environment, but also because it gained confidence in hiring foreigners. As the company prepared to hire foreigners in 2016, it identified failure cases in which many companies had difficulties in labor relations and struggled with cultural differences and language communication problems. In response, global labor consulting and internal workshops were promoted to focus on creating conditions.

As a result, not a few outstanding talents joined the company every year, and one-third of all full-time employees were filled by foreigners. Last year, five people were hired in the R&D position alone. Most of them have been working for a long time without moving to another company, except for cases where they have returned to Korea for personal reasons.
In recognition of these efforts, ThinkForBL was selected as an excellent foreign recruiting company at last year’s job fair, and this year it attracted media attention by being introduced through Arirang TV. The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), which hosted the event, also sees it as a meaningful case of hiring foreigners.
It was also confirmed that there were not a few cases in which job seekers applied after carefully checking company-related information. In fact, there were many job seekers who showed a willingness to pursue both personal and company development in more detail, rather than simply seeking employment opportunities in Korea.
On-site interviewer Yana Khan (Kazakhstan) said, “I checked the company through the Internet, and I was drawn to the enterprising and open atmosphere and applied. I would like to join the company and gain experience in planning and marketing.” Mr. Ben Ern Low (Malaysia) said, “I heard a lot of news about AI reliability through the media, etc., and the company name appeared regularly, so I was very interested. I would like to take this opportunity to work together and contribute to the advancement of technology.”
Park Ji-hwan, CEO of ThinkforBL, said, “Corporate culture must accept diversity and accommodate global human resources without limits, just as much as selling products to overseas markets.” We set out to create an environment, which reflects the company’s will not to allow any discrimination to foreigners in the ‘fair opportunity, fair evaluation, and reasonable compensation accordingly’ that the company aims for.”
