New Yorkers Overwhelmingly View Influx of Immigrants as a Serious Problem, Says Siena College Poll

The overwhelming majority of New Yorkers view the influx of immigrants into the state as a “serious problem,” according to a new Siena College poll.

The poll questioned more than 800 registered New York voters.

Of these, 54 percent say they would describe the situation of migrants as “very serious.”

Another 28 percent say they would call the situation “something serious.”

The survey asked a number of other immigrant-related questions.

46 percent indicate that the arrival of migrants has been a burden for the state not only in the last year, but in the last two decades.

58 percent believe the state has done enough to assimilate new immigrants and should now try to slow their entry into the population.

However, 50 percent support moving migrants from temporary living conditions in the city to more permanent housing structures across the state.
