In 1990, there were 256 million people suffering from osteoporosis, and by 2020 that number has risen to 595 million, an increase of 132 percent. By 2050, experts expect that number to reach one billion.
The most common symptoms of osteoporosis:
Back pain due to fracture or erosion of the bony vertebrae. Short stature over time. body curvature. Ease of bone fractures than expected.
“There is currently no effective treatment for osteoporosis, so it is critical that we focus on prevention and early intervention strategies and make expensive and effective treatments such as joint replacement affordable in low- and middle-income countries,” said Jamie Steinmetz, lead author of the study.
The knees and hips are the most vulnerable areas for osteoporosis.
By 2050, the incidence of osteoporosis is expected to increase by 74.9 percent in the knees, 48.6 percent in the hands, 78.6 percent in the hips, and 95.1 percent in other areas such as the elbows and shoulders.
It is also estimated that women will continue to experience this condition more than men.
