Jasa Raharja stated the victim brick truck collision vs 7 motorbikes in opposite directions in Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta (Jaksel) do not deserve accident compensation. The same thing was conveyed by Kakorlantas Polri Inspector General Firman Shantyabudi.
“Poor public compliance with traffic causes the risk of accidents. We know that traffic accidents will result in both material and non-material losses. Losses are also felt by all parties, both victims and those suspected of being the cause of the accident,” said Firman in a written statement, Wednesday (23/8/2023).
Firman highlighted the accident which according to him was started by the behavior of the motorists going the opposite direction. He hopes this will be a lesson for motorists.
“The disobedience of two-wheeled drivers to the rules that apply is one of the causes of accidents. Of course this is very unfortunate and for drivers who cause accidents (accidents) do not deserve compensation. Hopefully this will be a lesson for road users to be orderly in traffic” , said Firman.
Firman and Main Director of Jasa Raharja Rivan A Purwantono expressed their concern over the accident that occurred. In this written statement, Rivan. On a different occasion, Rivan also explained that his party had coordinated with the traffic police regarding compensation rules for accident victims in Lenteng Agung.
“Referring to Law Number 34/1964 in conjunction with PP Number 18/1965, that for a driver or driver who has an accident and is the cause of a collision of two or more motorized vehicles, Jasa Raharja does not guarantee it,” said Rivan.
He explained that other categories of victims of traffic accidents who are not entitled to receive Jasa Raharja compensation include victims of single-handed accidents, victims of accidents due to breaking through the railing of a train, victims who experience accidents proven to be committing a crime. He gave examples such as thieves who speed on the road because they want to escape.
“(Furthermore, those who do not receive compensation-ed) accident victims who are proven to be drunk, victims of intentional accidents due to suicide or attempted suicide, and victims of injury due to participating in speed competitions such as car racing and motorcycle racing,” said Rivan.
