We did the trip in 2 days, like when we traveled with a gasoline car.
The website A Better Route Planner helped us a lot to find the best terminals on our route. Afterwards, PlugShare helped to look at the terminals in Plan B. In the end, we always had room with our initial plan and never encountered any problems.
Most were Electrify America charging stations, which were the most reliable and preferred by us. We also tried some EVGo terminals, which was good as a network.
To save around 25% on the charging cost, we took the monthly plan Pass+ Membership d’Electrify America at $4 USD. Just start it before you go on a trip and stop it when you get home.
A credit card with no conversion fees was used, to avoid the 2.5% foreign currency fee on top-ups. I took the Scotiabank Gold American Express Card, also used in all the Walmarts and restaurants along the way.
Our car has a range of around 420 kilometres, with a 91 Kwh battery. The total out-and-back winter charging cost was $184 USD (approximately 244 $ CAD).
The stops were at Walmarts. This was perfect for us, as we could go to the bathroom, eat, buy meals and snacks or buy things forgotten at home!
