Update (15:10):
Nvidia has already brought official announcement. Although it was first assumed that RR would be exclusive to RTX 40, the opposite turned out to be true. The technology will also be available on RTX 30 and 20 series cards.
Original article:
DLSS upscaling technology has come a long way. While the first version in 2019 had a lot of issues, most of them were fixed by the vastly improved DLSS 2 that came out a year later. Last year, we saw DLSS 3, which did not bring a significant improvement in upscaling, but it does include a completely new Frame Generation technology that can generate “false frames” and thus increase the fluidity of the gaming experience at the cost of higher input lag. Not even a year after this big release, Nvidia presents DLSS 3.5, another upgrade that brings a whole new technology.

Although at the time of writing there has not yet been a fully official announcement, the magazine Videocardz released the description and accompanying images directly from Nvidia, so we probably won’t have to wait long. The novelty of DLSS 3.5 is the Ray Reconstruction (RR) technology, i.e. the reconstruction of rays, which should bring better visual quality of ray tracing. In games, the latter can suffer from various noises and other artifacts that various denoisers try to suppress, but not always successfully. RR is supposed to do their job, but much better. You can see the comparison of DLSS 3.5 (DLSS 2 + Frame Generation + Ray Reconstruction) with native resolution below.
Nvidia boasts that DLSS 3.5 was trained on five times more data than DLSS 3. It is supposed to include data from the engine, can recognize different types of ray tracing, and distinguish a good pixel from a bad one. In any case, the disadvantage will be that it will probably be an exclusive technology for the RTX 40 series, although this has not yet been confirmed.
Although it is supposed to be a technology aimed at better visual quality, it should also offer a slight increase in performance, see the comparison from Nvidia below.

DLSS 3.5 is supposed to arrive in the first titles this fall, specifically it will look at the games Portal with RTX, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty and Alan Wake 2. At the same time, it will go to the programs Omniverse, Chaos Vantage and D5 Render.
