The famous Soviet and Russian basketball player Sergei Babkov died at the age of 57. According to preliminary information, a detached blood clot could have been the cause of his death, which was discussed today, August 22, informs “Sport Express”.
The athlete began his career in the Burevestnik club (Barnaul – EADaily) in 1984, where he acted as an attacker. Babkov also played for the SKA of the Sverdlovsk region, the capital’s CSKA, the Novosibirsk Sibirtelecom-Lokomotiv. The basketball player also played for foreign clubs – the German Trier, the Spanish Unicaja and Hoventud. Played 64 matches for the national team.
Since 2011, Sergey Babkov has served as the general director of the Novosibirsk basketball club Lokomotiv.
