Viral on social media short videos showing the frame of the Honda eSAF scooter broken, allegedly due to rust. Astra Honda Motor (AHM) is trying to investigate the case. Regarding the eSAF framework itself, what does it look like?
Quoting from the Honda Global website, eSAF stands for enhanced Smart Architecture Frame. The eSAF frame was first used in the New Genio model which launched in 2019. This frame is very different from the tube or steel pipe frame.

It was stated that the production process for the eSAF frame uses the latest production processes such as the press and laser welding. The structure was developed to increase stability handlingso the bike becomes easy to ride, light, and also comfortable to maneuver.
The new frame made of steel plates is even claimed to be able to provide more efficient use of space, as evidenced by the 14-liter trunk capacity and 4.2-liter fuel tank capacity on the New Genio model.
The eSAF framework then becomes common part (shared components) in the latest Honda scooter models. After being used on the Genio model, the eSAF frame is also used on the Scoopy, BeAT, and also the Vario 160 model.

Previously, AHM Marketing Director Octavianus Dwi Putro had given his response regarding the viral Honda eSAF frame, which was accused of being porous and easily broken. According to Octa, this needs to be seen case by case. Because, he said, not all Honda consumers complained about the same thing.
“We must see it case by case yes. That caseJust report it, we’ll look into it further. Because so far there have been no significant complaints about it from other consumers. So maybe it should be seen case by caseher,” Octavianus told reporters recently.
