Just under a year after its world premiere, the third chapter in Pagani’s story opened up to North American audiences with the presentation of the sensational Utopia at the exhibition The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering which took place during Monterey Car Week in California last week.
Our journalist Gabriel Gélinas was there to cover the event and he took the opportunity to make a short video in which he introduces us to this new Italian hyper sports car. You will find it above.
Funny fact: during the day on Friday, a visitor accidentally activated the extinguisher system, generating a lot of smoke in the car. No damage was done, however.
850 horsepower, zero electrification
Heir to the Zonda and Huayra, the Pagani Utopia boosts power and performance in addition to relying on an improved structure and state-of-the-art aerodynamics.

Disregarding the electrification that is taking the automotive industry by storm, the Utopia still relies solely on a 6.0-litre AMG twin-turbo V12. The latter now generates 850 horsepower and 811 pound-feet of torque (previously 791 and 774, respectively). That’s more than the racing Huayra R’s 838 horsepower.
All of this power is routed to the rear axle. By the way, the car weighs only 1,280 kilograms dry thanks to an optimized structure combining carbon fiber and titanium, so you can imagine the lightning accelerations that the driver can feel.
As for the passenger compartment, Gabriel does not hesitate to qualify it as a jewel and a work of art. It can be seen, if only by the gear lever!
In closing, note that only 99 copies of the Pagani Utopia will be produced. They are all already booked, of course, even though the price has been set at 2,170,000 euros, or roughly $3 million Canadian.
