The opening up of territories is a concern

Libreville, Thursday August 17, 2023 (Infos Gabon) – During his trip to the capital of Ogooué-Lolo on Tuesday, President Ali Bongo Ondimba wanted to reassure his compatriots of his determination to work for the connectivity of the provinces.

After Franceville in Haut-Ogooué, the Head of State was the host of the populations of Koulamoutou in Ogooué-Lolo in the afternoon of last Tuesday. At the center of the exchanges with his compatriots in this province, Ali Bongo Ondimba spoke about the connectivity of the regions, a major concern in the Ogooué-Lolo region. He took advantage of this stopover to explain his program to upgrade and renovate the Lastourville station; the opening of a branch of the National Employment Promotion Center in Koulamoutou; the construction of the Lastourville dry port, etc.

Ali Bongo Ondimba spoke at length to the population about his social project entitled: “ Republican social pact “. The host of the day expressed his desire to double the capacity of the railway in order to offer more outlets for the production of forestry companies in Ogooué-Lolo and enable them to create more jobs; to complete the 840 km of the Transgabonaise. The realization of this ambitious project will not only open up Ogooué-Lolo, Haut-Ogooué and Ogooué-Ivindo, but will relaunch the asphalting site of the Carrefour Leroy-Mikouyi axis; to pave 100 km of urban roads in the provincial capitals, including Koulamoutou and to improve public lighting in urban and rural areas to facilitate travel, make it safer and less accident-prone.

In this vast project, it is also a question of ensuring the routine maintenance of the roads, in particular the Koulamoutou – Iboundji – Mimongo axis, by the systematic inclusion of a “maintenance clause” in the road contracts; to relaunch commercial air service within the country and to invest 5 billion F per year per province in priority sectors. “With regard to my action to open up the territories, Ogooué-Lolo will be one of my priorities. By road, by rail, by air and by river. Soon, thanks to the Transgabonaise, which will pass here, things will quickly and significantly improve. The transport of people and goods will be facilitated and employment opportunities for young people will develop,” said Ali Bongo Ondimba.
