Lots of good conversations today. Still, a camera crew thought it necessary to ring my 82-year-old mother’s doorbell with the microphone and light at the ready’, Pieter writes. She wouldn’t let them in and told them so. Still, the squad kept pushing until she gave in. It would be nice if we didn’t cross certain boundaries.’
In Inside today Sam calls it ‘a painful story’ on Monday evening, but according to him, Pieter’s tweet is incorrect. Sam says that a colleague of his was indeed in Borne on Monday for a report on the founder of the new political party New Social Contract, but she would not have surprised Pieter’s mother with a rolling camera. It was even still in the car, says Sam. “She went to the door and asked if she wanted to cooperate. That woman was surprised, but after explaining that we wanted to make a nice report about Pieter, she said: ‘Come in’.”
After Omtzigt’s tweet, there was a conversation between the reporter and the politician. “It turns out that she is sometimes less clear than she appears. So we are not going to broadcast that interview. It has been painful, but it has now been resolved,” says Sam.
Pieter has also responded to the matter. “Adequate response from the journalist, who called immediately. Thanks. Some difference of opinion about the exact story, but really appreciate the response.”
