A prominent yellow square is marked on the floor.

The so-called ‘Women’s safe way home’.
As of the end of last year, there are nearly 2,000 designated places nationwide, mainly in places with high demand for security.
In Gwanak-gu, there are 14 locations.
There is also an opinion that the recent violent crimes should be expanded.

“Since there are many such bad incidents in the news, and my child is also a student now…it is uncomfortable and scary…of course I think it should be expanded.”
Gwanak-gu also decided to install three more last year and submitted a budget.
However, the brakes were put on the district council review.
It was Choi In-ho, a district councilor, who led this.
Rep. Choi has been promoting on his social media that “the related budget has been completely cut by 74 million won.”
Appearing on a YouTube channel, she argued that the ‘Women’s Safe Way to Return’ is ineffective.

“I don’t think it’s absolutely not whether or not the actual security is strengthened. Also, the ‘Women’s safe way home’ project is in the reality that men do not receive any protection.”
It even gives ‘historical meaning’ and praises itself.

“The reduction of the total amount of ‘Women’s Safe Way Home’, which I did for the first time in Korea, has a historical significance in that Gwanak-gu discontinued the women-friendly project and moved on to a resident-friendly project…”
After the sexual assault incident on Dulle-gil in Gwanak-gu on the 17th, Congressman Choi’s actions became known, and protests and demands for resignation were flooded on the Gwanak-gu council website.
In response, Rep. Choi issued a statement and argued that the budget cuts were decided through the negotiation process of the Gwanak-gu Council, and that the sexual violence incident occurred due to budget cuts was malicious incitement.
Gwanak-gu said that only the relevant budget department was changed from the Gender Equality and Family Division to the Urban Planning Division, and that the installation of the ‘Women’s Safe Way Home’ would continue.
