Major Fire in Offenbach Recycling Plant Causes Damage of at Least 300,000 Euros

Offenbach (dpa) – After the major fire in a recycling plant in Offenbach, the police assume damage of at least 300,000 euros. On Monday, clean-up work was carried out on the premises of the disposal company for rechargeable batteries and batteries, as a spokesman for the fire brigade in Offenbach announced. According to this, the burned and melted batteries would be stored in water containers for at least 24 hours to cool down. The fire department kept a fire watch.

The fire broke out on the company’s premises on Sunday evening and then spread to a warehouse. According to the fire department, a total of 70 tons of batteries and accumulators were on fire. A column of smoke, visible from miles away, rose over the city. The cause of the fire is still unclear.
