Four men had promised a farmer from Padua who was in economic difficulties to earn two million euros with an investment of 250,000 euros. The four men were a lawyer from Treviso, two financial advisors from Rome and Viterbo and a cattle dealer from South Tyrol. The cattle dealer had recommended the lawyer to the farmer in need as a problem solver.
The lawyer had gained the farmer’s trust. He then issued four checks for 50,000 euros each. The money should have been invested in real estate. But it didn’t go there. Partly it was divided among the four participants. Part was invested in a sports convertible. Several checks were written with another part.
Ad triggers investigation
After the promised successes did not materialize, the cheated farmer lodged a complaint. This started the investigation.
The coroner ordered the seizure of the lawyer’s account. The entire sum was secured there and in other accounts of those involved. The lawyer was reported for abuse of a service, all four together for aggravated fraud.
