Saint Stephen’s Day! The founder of the state is the feast of King Szent István, who was canonized in August. The celebration of order, and once upon a time the constitution! The fruits of “order” and work are the barns full in August, the fattened animals, the ripe grain, wheat and all God-given crops. The “New Bread” holiday!
He explained about Szent István: “Vajk was born around 975 as the son of Prince Géza, baptized and educated by Adalbert, bishop of Prague, around 985. 997: After the death of Géza, Vajk becomes prince, at the age of barely 22. He is crowned in the 1000-1001 round, from then on he is not a prince, but a king! The first! His advisor and Prince Imre’s tutor was Bishop Gellért, San Gerardo, who was canonized in 1083, the same year as him. II. He destroys the invading armies of the Holy Roman Emperor Konrad. Prince Imre dies in 1031, who would have had the right to the title of German-Roman Emperor by right of his mother, Gizella, and of course as István’s successor to the Hungarian Royal throne. The sons and descendants of Vazul come as Árpád-house kings and re-establish the order. 1083: St. István (and the teacher St. Gellért) are canonized at the intercession of King Saint László in the same year!”
Regarding the New Bread festival, he noted the four sufferings of wheat: “the neck is cut off, it is harvested, – it is terribly beaten, threshed, – it is crushed into pieces, it is ground, – then it is burned in the oven, and bread is baked!” This is how wheat gives life, this is how new bread is born – he said.
Finally, he pointed out that we celebrate Saint Stephen, the founder of the order and state, the result of the year’s work: the New and Good Bread! The country’s wheat and bread, and here before us the bread of Pentele!
