REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — It is rumored that Meta will launch Threads web version, competitor X (formerly known as Twitter). According to reports The Wall Street JournalCEO Meta Mark Zuckerberg says the company is working on adding the feature along with better search.
Users can only search username on the platform earlier this month, and an update plan will be ready in the next few weeks. However, a source said that plans for the rollout of the feature are not final and are subject to change. Head of Instagram Adam Mosseri posted on Threads last week that Meta had been testing an early build internally for a week or two, but needed a few tweaks before it was released widely.
“We are in the process of working on it. We’ve been using the internal version earlier for one to two weeks. There are still some improvements needed before we release it to the public,” said Mosseri, quoted from the page The Verge.
Threads launched as a competitor Twitter a very simple one about a month and a half ago. Quickly Threads get 100 million users including celebrities to a number of brands. Several important features that do not yet exist, will slowly be added by the company.
The company recently added follow feed as well as the ability to verify links with profiles. This suggests that Meta might actually take integration with the decentralized social network protocol Activity Pub quite seriously.
Although impressive at the start of its launch, the number of daily active users has been declining. According to data analytics company Similarweb, the number of daily active users on Threads fell from 49 million to 23.6 million in just one week.
