Mark Zuckerberg Announces HD Photo Sharing Update on WhatsApp

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced a major update to WhatsApp. You can now send photos via it in HD resolution. The option should appear for all users in the coming weeks.

Photo sharing on WhatsApp just got an upgrade,” Zuckerberg said in a video on instagram. “Now you can send them in HD,” he added.

The news will appear on all phones in the coming weeks, the website pointed out The Verge. Users will see a new icon in the application when sending, which will allow them to send a photo in high resolution.

The option has already appeared in some phones, but other users are still waiting for it. The company Meta promised that in the near future people will get this option even when sending videos.

However, high-quality photos take up more space in the phone’s memory. Standard quality therefore remains the main option when sending. People have to choose the HD resolution themselves. If someone sends you a photo with high quality, but you have a slower internet, you can download it in standard quality, the newspaper’s website warned Daily Mirror.

WhatsApp launched a new feature in the Czech Republic. You can now communicate using video messages (8/2023):
