The aim of this article is to outline central social and scientific contexts in which the socio-ethical reflection of the human right to education is located. This illuminates the horizon of reflection from which the research questions were developed that guide the research project on the human right to education, from which the present publication emerged. The first part of the explanation is about gaining an insight into the forum for public discussions on education, educational equity and educational policy, which has meanwhile been filled with almost inflationary numbers of contributions from a wide variety of sources.
