” Come on ! Give a boost! sends Julie to galvanize the children. The pole vaulter, with eight years of practice, helps young athletes. They must perform a short run before launching into the air and staying there to then re-land seated on the cushion provided for this purpose. Not far from them, in the same Rives gymnasium, located rue du Parc in Thionville, other children try their hand at the triple jump, following a very specific course. “If they enjoy the activity, they can enroll in the discipline at the start of the school year,” says Julie. To date, she already has three or four children likely to join the staff of her pole vault club in September.
Unrecognized discipline
If the kids aren’t taking the teen or adult circuit, they can still learn the basics of pole vaulting with Julie. “It’s impressive for them so they all want to try,” she continues. Unlike other sports that require less equipment, it is not common to practice pole vaulting. “Is it my turn soon? asks a girl.
This activity took place as part of the summer activities which still take place until Tuesday, August 29.
