Exercising is not limited to men, as it is important for men, it is also important for women, because of the lifestyle and its responsibilities, many women neglect the aspect of sports and are limited to diets to prevent diseases, or to gain a fit and consistent body, while sports and nutrition are two sides of the same coin that complement one the other. In this regard, Fatima Al-Mutawaj, a nutritionist and sports specialist, said: The importance of sports for women is not limited to giving them a fit and harmonious figure. But it is also important for physical strength and promotes positive psychological energy, and sports improve women’s self-image and increase their self-confidence.
And about the type of sports suitable for women, she mentioned that she should practice the sport she loves, whatever it is, and combine between aerobic and anaerobic exercises. And that the main point is to enjoy and benefit, so she should not put pressure on herself by overloading herself in any sport to avoid injuries.
She pointed out that household chores involve movement and activity for the body. But it is not considered a substitute for sports, as it must be a sport that raises the heartbeat (aerobic).
She emphasized that lifting weights is not limited to men only, as many women believe that the practice of carrying weights is limited to men only and this matter is considered wrong, as women are in dire need of it more than men due to what the body bears from the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, childbirth, housework and others. .
And she continued: The genetic and hormonal makeup of women and men differs, even if a woman lifts twice as much as a man lifts, it is not likely that she will build muscles like him, unless she takes hormones and stimulants, so weight-bearing exercises increase the body’s endurance, motor and physical ability, increase the burn rate, Fight osteoporosis and improve the appearance of the body.
She explained that women should follow a sports program that suits them without increasing their level or energy.
As for the sports suitable for pregnant women, she indicated that exercise is of great importance during pregnancy, as it helps to maintain a woman’s fitness, health, and preparation for childbirth.
The appropriate sports that you recommend are aerobic and light resistance exercises with stretching exercises and yoga.
In her advice to women, she said: Sport is a life routine, you should make it a routine thing in your life with the need to follow a moderate healthy diet to maintain your health, strength and beauty.
