Motorists in the Rhône will come across strange exceptional convoys these next few weeks on the roads of the department.
From August 17 until September 20, 2023, a convoy of wind turbines (sections of masts) will cross the roads of the Rhône department to go to the Loire.
Departure from Villefranche-sur-Saône
It is the exceptional transport company Augizeau which is in charge of the delicate operation, indicates the departmental council of the Rhône. The convoy will enter at Villefranche-sur-Saône north of Lyon then travel on the RD306, RD30, RD385 and RD338 before joining the RN7 in the Tarare sector.
These wind turbines will depart from Sète (Hérault) to join the future “Les Noës” wind farm located in the Loire and whose opening is scheduled for early 2024.
81 to 113 tons for a maximum length of 42 m
These trucks are XXL. They weigh 81 to tons each and can measure up to 42 meters. Some maneuvers can therefore be tricky in roundabouts or small towns.
The passages are planned: Tuesday August 22, Thursday August 24, Wednesday August 30, Wednesday September 6, Wednesday September 13 and Wednesday September 20 (2 trucks).
40 kilometers in several municipalities
In the Rhône department, exceptional convoys will cover 40 kilometres. The following municipalities are affected by the passage of these giant trucks:
