The logo designed by Bino Mathew of Hereford Malayali Association was selected in the logo competition conducted for Yukma Keralapuram Vallamkali 2023. The chosen logo will be used for all official purposes of this year’s boating competition. The winner, Bino Mathew, will receive a prize of £101 and a plaque. Bino’s logo was selected by a judging panel from a multi-participant logo competition. The prize will be distributed to the winner at the boating competition venue.
Meanwhile, the organizers informed that preparations for the 5th Yukma Keralapuram Boat Race are in progress. Yukma national and regional leaders are making great preparations under the leadership of Yukma National Committee President Dr. Biju Peringathara and General Secretary Kurian George to make the boating and carnival held at Manvers Lake in Rotherham near Sheffield on August 26 a historic event. This year Vallamkali will have eminent personalities from the fields of politics and cinema as special guests. Also prominent artistes will perform.
Adv.AB Sebastian, event coordinator of Yukma Keralapuram Vallamkali – 2023, said that more spectators are expected to attend the Vallamkali competition this year. National Vice President Shijo Varghese will be in charge of the boating competition from the Yukma National Committee. In the last year, about 7000 people turned up as spectators for the boat race. At least 10,000 people are expected to turn up to watch the boat race this time. Many associations and other organizations organize one-day trips to Lake Manvers to participate in the boating competition and the carnival organized for the day.
Manvers Lake and the associated park can accommodate up to 10,000 spectators. There is an uninterrupted view of the race from any part of the lake where the boat race is held. The main stage and restaurants will be set up on the surrounding lawn. There is facility to watch boating competitions and stage programs from the same place. And for over 3,000 cars, coaches will have separate parking facilities. The Yukma Keralapuram Boat Race Day is an opportunity for a whole day of fun and enjoyment during the school holidays.
General Secretary Kurian George informed that the Yukma National Committee welcomes everyone to book a holiday in advance and reach Manvers Lake to watch the match.
