Black Stones, Coahuila; August 20, 2023.- For almost two years, Cecilia Morales was on a waiting list to be a beneficiary of a kidney donation, it was more than two years in which she received hemodialysis. Yesterday Saturday, she received a gift of life, a kidney from Father Gerardo Hernández Briones, who became her live donor.
“It is an immense happiness, together with the greatest gratitude. I was on the waiting list for almost two years, they called me several times, but I did not do it, ”Cecilia wrote on her networks on June 3.
“A friend with the heart of a hero told me: I save you,” he stressed.
Cecilia highlighted how Father Gera, as they affectionately call him, offered his kidney with enormous love to his neighbor, which made her cry with emotion, freeing her from many pains and sufferings.
“It will free me from so many ailments that sometimes occur in hemodialysis, it will save me from more falls while in the hospital, and it will free me from being able to travel to see my children, because in hemodialysis you have to be connected three times to the week for three hours,” he explained.
“I will have strength again,” he added.
In his lyrics, he emphasized that he will never finish thanking his friend Father Gerardo, who is the parish priest of the Diocese of Piedras Negras, for such a great act of love, saving her and giving her another chance to have another quality of life.
“Feeling good is the best gift in the world. And this super hero and friend that I love very much, is like my brother is Father Gera ”, he indicated.
“From the first moment he knew that I needed a kidney to stay alive, he did not doubt it, he immediately raised his hand. He said me,” she added.
First, he reported that it was not possible, but after insisting on the studies it was achieved.

Yesterday, Saturday at 8:00 a.m. in the city of Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Father Gerardo and Cecilia underwent surgery to make a live kidney donation.
On Friday night, Father Gera asked for prayers for Cecilia and for him on Facebook, after receiving the blessing of the Bishop of the Diocese of Piedras Negras, Gerardo Garza Treviño, his family and friends.
A few hours after the surgery was carried out, the engineer Cecilia Morales uploaded a photograph to her profile together with Father Gerardo and informed that at 8:00 a.m. yesterday, Saturday, the organ donation would begin.
He emphasized his gratitude and admiration for the priest, who will give him a better quality of life.
“I love him, I admire him, I thank him to infinity and beyond!”, he expressed.
“This means for me, that my friend gets me out of hemodialysis, out of health downturns, out of another quality of life, out of being free. Thank you, thank you, thank you,” he added.
An exemplary human being
By being a live donor, Father Gera becomes a great example of courage, emphasizing his love for his neighbor and the faith he professes.
Father Juan Gerardo Hernández Briones is currently a parish priest in the parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Sabinas, Coahuila.
In Piedras Negras he was parish priest in the parish of San Juan de los Lagos, he was responsible for the Nazareth homes, as well as the parish of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Villa de Fuente.

In recovery
Father Juan Armando Renovato López, spokesman for the Diocese of Piedras Negras, reported that after surgery by the parish priest Gerardo Hernández Briones to donate a kidney, he was informed that he is recovering and in good health.
“He underwent surgery to donate a kidney to a person who needs it, they inform me that at 6 in the afternoon, that he is in good health, he is already in his room recovering,” he said.

He highlighted Father Gerardo as a great example of how one can give one’s life to God in service to others.
