In the middle of the summer season, during the busiest period for tourists, traders took out their wardrobes and presented their best offers. The discounts exceed the classic sales. Some items are displayed at more than 60% below their prices and some are offered in bundles, in particular swimwear.
The choice is important and passersby are busy on the gates and in the bins to find their size.
“It’s very good to spend less!”
Christelle and Laëtitia, on vacation in Sanary and coming from Grenoble, share their delight with us: “Since the port was redone, it is a very beautiful avenue. We came to the braderie by chance, during our breakfast on the port. We noticed that many braderies flourished this year. It is very good to spend less! We hadn’t seen the posters, but we have time to shop. There are very good deals and great opportunities to buy brands at half price… we’re going to do some shopping!” The atmosphere is relaxed, clothes, jewellery, accessories and decorative objects are displayed outdoors, shops are open from 9 am to 8 pm, all the factors are there for shopping while walking.
“ Ready-to-wear is no longer the priority of consumers “
Julie, Bandolaise and her friend Victoria, Parisian, come to this sale every year. “I started by buying a dress, we just arrived!”, confides the latter.
The store manager the Insolent gives us his feelings on this event: “I have a shop in Bandol and two in Sanary, I am delighted with the organization of this sale, there are a lot of people, we work very well. Unfortunately, all our customers are waiting for promotions and sales to come, our margins are dropping a lot, ready-to-wear is no longer the priority for consumers. However, I am very understanding.”
When you see the crowds of passers-by and the quantity of items on offer, you can imagine that the sale is an important activity for all Bandol merchants at this time of year.
Including bars and restaurants that have their tables full. Some even had to hire staff for the occasion.
