Novak Djokovic Joins Carlos Alcaraz in Turin for the ATP Finals

Novak Djokovic joins Carlos Alcaraz in Turin

23-time Major winner Novak Djokovic will be attending the ATP Finals for the 16th time in the previous 17 seasons since 2007! Novak defeated Taylor Fritz in the Cincinnati quarterfinals and picked up enough points to join Carlos Alcaraz in Turin.

Novak has a record of 36:5 in 2023. Although there are players who have more wins than the Serb, he was a player to beat in the Majors, lifting two trophies and losing the Wimbledon final to the Spaniard.

Novak has accumulated 6305 ATP points this year, 5200 of them in Majors! The Serb started the season with back-to-back titles in Adelaide and Melbourne. Novak secured his tenth Australian Open trophy with a 6-3, 7-6, 7-6 win over Stefanos Tsitsipas and joined Rafael Nadal with 22 major titles.

Djokovic missed Indian Wells and Miami and returned to action in Monte Carlo, where he struggled to play his best ahead of Rome. The Serb reached the semifinals at the Foro Italico, saving his best tennis for Roland Garros.

Novak Djokovic will play at the ATP Finals in November

On the hunt for the record-breaking 23.

Major crown ousted Novak Karen Khachanov, Carlos Alcaraz and Casper Ruud, celebrated the title in Paris for the third time and wrote history books. Djokovic defeated Ruud 7-6, 6-3, 7-5 in over three hours.

Novak overcame a break deficit in the first set and got it in the tie-break. The Serb put on good performances as the duel progressed, beating the rival in the closing stages of the third set to take the lead.

Djokovic has not played a tournament before Wimbledon and traveled to London as the title favorite. The Serb bested Hubert Hurkacz in the fourth round, beating Andrey Rublev and Jannik Sinner en route to the final.

Carlos Alcaraz awaited Novak in a blockbuster duel and denied the Serb his 24th major title with a 1: 6, 7: 6, 6: 1, 3: 6, 6: 4 victory in four hours and 42 minutes. Djokovic gave his all against the younger opponent, forcing a third set but wasting his chances.

It was Novak’s last tournament before Cincinnati, skipping Toronto and re-energizing ahead of the US Open. Djokovic will play in the semifinals of Cincinnati after triumphs over Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, Gael Monfils and Taylor Fritz, stays on course for the title and breaks away for 16th place.

Times the ATP Finals ticket. Novak is the defending champion in Torino, celebrating his sixth title last year and sitting at the top of the list alongside Roger Federer. Djokovic is 46-17 at the ATP Finals and has reached 11 semifinals in his last 15 appearances.
