Entertainment Extravaganza in Darmstadt: Crafts Market, Cabaret, and More!

Curb, arts and crafts, cabaret – it’s not just events with the letter K that promise entertainment from August 18th to 20th in and around Darmstadt. Our excerpt.

Handicrafts in Darmstadt: Craftspeople from all over Germany will be presenting works made of wood, glass and ceramics, metal, precious stones, fabric and leather on Friedensplatz in Darmstadt this weekend. The market stalls are open on Saturday, August 19th from 10am to 7pm and on Sunday, August 20th from 10am to 6pm.

Circus air in Darmstadt: “Clear ring” is the motto on Sunday, August 20th at 2:30 p.m. The Circus Datterino is a guest at the Forsthaus Fasanerie, Dieburger Straße 270 in Darmstadt. Entry costs 5 euros for children and 10 euros for adults.

Cabaret in Darmstadt: The cabaret “Kabbaratz” can be seen on Saturday, August 19 at 8 p.m. with its current program “If we had known that earlier” on the open-air stage in the Agora, Erbacher Straße 89 in Darmstadt. Tickets are available for 18 euros on ztix.de

Promenade concerts in Darmstadt: On Sunday, August 20, at 11 a.m., the group “2 Meet You” will be playing in the Herrngarten in Darmstadt. She enchants with music from the 50s and 60s. Also at 11 a.m. the band “Swing-Sound-Orchestra” will perform in the Orangery Garden in Darmstadt. The band presents music from the “Golden Swing Era” of the 1930s to 1950s with American and German big band classics by Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Willy Berking and Bert Kampfert.

Theater in Darmstadt: “Somewhere in the world” is the motto on Friday and Saturday, 19./20. August, always at 8 p.m. in the Theater Moller Haus, Sandstraße 10 in Darmstadt. The humorous but also profound song recital is framed with texts by well-known poets such as Brecht and Eichendorff. Tickets are available for 13.30 euros at ztix.de

Bats in Reinheim: The Reinheimer Teich Nature Conservation Barn Working Group invites you to an evening walk on Sunday, August 20 at 8 p.m. The excursion with bat observation starts at the nature conservation barn, which can be reached via the L3413 between Reinheim-Spachbrücken and Habitzheim. Turn into the car park at the sign for the sewage treatment plant, from there it is about an eight-minute walk. The way is signposted.

Notch in Rüsselsheim: This Friday, August 18th, the curb around the Rüsselsheim town hall begins and lasts until Tuesday, August 22nd. At 7.30 p.m., “Roy Hammer & the Pralinées” will set the mood on the market square. On Saturday, August 19 at 2 p.m., lost and found items will be auctioned on the market square. The day ends musically at 7.30 p.m. with the band “Degenhard”. The Notch Sunday is then all about the clubs, which put on a colorful stage program on the market square from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. At 7 p.m. the singer Mario Carillo will perform there. For the first time, a 35 meter high Ferris wheel was set up in front of the town hall.

Scenes for orchestra in Darmstadt: This Saturday, August 19, the Darmstadt Summer Course Orchestra will be on stage with turntablist Mariam Rezaei, who worked with composer Matthew Shlomowitz on the commissioned composition “Six scenes for turntables and orchestra”. The French conductor Pierre Bleuse will lead the concert at 7.30 p.m. in the sports hall of the Lichtenbergschule Darmstadt, Ludwigshöhstraße 105, which will also feature “String Quartet and Orchestra” by Morton Feldman and the orchestral piece “Orion” by Kaija Saariaho. Chansons in Darmstadt: Due to high demand, there is an additional date for the 54th Dotter concert “La vie en rose” on Sunday, August 20th at 11 a.m. with chansons and songs by Edith Piaf, Charles Aznavour, Luigi Tenco, Lucio Dalla and Friedrich Hollaender. Mezzo-soprano Dzuna Kalnina, who was originally supposed to sing, has canceled. Diana Petrova Darnea (soprano) now replaces her. She will be accompanied by pianist Georgi Mundrov. The matinée takes place in the Ernst-Ludwig-Saal, Schwanenstraße 42, in Darmstadt. Tickets for 10 euros are available at www.dotter-stiftung.de/musik-kultur/karten

Handicraft workshop in Darmstadt: The Bioversum Jagdschloss Kranichstein, Kranichsteiner Straße 253 in Darmstadt, has a handicraft workshop ready this Friday, August 18, at 2 p.m. in the family holiday program. Its motto is “From egg to butterfly”. The cost is 9 euros per person including admission to the museum and materials. On Sunday, August 20, at 3:30 p.m., the Bioversum is offering the “Insect Concerto”, a headphone meadow excursion. Cost: 8 euros per person.

Sculpture tour in Darmstadt The Darmstadt Art Archive invites you to a sculpture tour with Manfred Efinger, former chancellor of the TU Darmstadt, on Saturday, August 19 at 3 p.m. The meeting point for the tour of the Stadtmitte campus is the wall bridge on the side of Karolinenplatz. Exhibition in Darmstadt: The Künstlerhaus Ziegelhütte, Kranichsteiner Straße 110 in Darmstadt, opens on Sunday, August 20, 11.30 a.m. an exhibition with metal works and graphics by Achim Pahle, who used to live in Darmstadt. The exhibition entitled “Time Travel” is shown in the gallery rooms and in the garden.
