Man Arrested in Downtown Seoul for Threatening Public Safety with a Weapon

Park Mo, a man in his 60s who roamed downtown Seoul with a weapon, was arrested on charges of special threats.

Chief Judge Kim Bong-kyu of the Seoul Central District Court issued an arrest warrant today, saying, “There is a concern about fleeing, the crime is serious, and there is also a risk of recidivism.”

Park is accused of wandering around Daehak-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul, with a weapon around 9:30 the day before yesterday.

The police, who received a report that “a man was wandering the streets screaming with a weapon,” arrested Mr. Park at his home within an hour after confirming his identity through CCTV.

Park is known to have admitted to the crime during a police investigation, saying, “People were so noisy outside that I thought I had to kill them all.”
