Excelsior’s Draw Against Ajax in Eredivisie: Match Analysis and Results

Mimeirhel Benita achieved an excellent result in the Eredivisie with Excelsior on Saturday afternoon. The Kralingers played a 2-2 draw against Ajax at Woudestein. Excelsior even took the lead after the break, but eventually had to pull out all the stops to force a draw.

Lennard Hartjes was not part of Excelsior’s match selection. The talented midfielder was the match winner against NEC last week, but was struggling with a minor injury that prevented him from taking action. Benita started on the bench with the Kralingers and was able to play the last half hour. Despite the many chances of the visitors, no more goals were scored in the final phase.

When Feyenoord manages to grab three points against Sparta Rotterdam, it will be level with Ajax again. Both clubs would then be on four points after two games in the Eredivisie. Another Feyenoord competitor will play later on Saturday, as PSV will play an away match against Vitesse at 6:45 PM. Furthermore, Fortuna Sittard will compete against Almere City and Go Ahead Eagles will receive FC Volendam.
