Deputy editor-in-chief of the authoritative German newspaper Bild, Paul Ronzheimer, voiced three possible options for Ukraine’s actions in the war with Russia.
Journalist’s opinion shared after a visit to Kyiv and a conversation with the Ukrainian leadership, as well as after a trip to the front line in the Donbass.
So, three possible scenarios for Ukraine’s actions:
– Continuation of the battle without negotiations with the Russian Federation. According to the journalist, today the leadership of Ukraine “does not intend to bend under pressure”, but plans to continue the counteroffensive and remains optimistic. If the current counter-offensive of the Ukrainian army fails to break through the Russian defenses, there will be another counter-offensive in the spring of 2024.
– Continue the battle, but at the same time start negotiations. The journalist recalls the words of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who has repeatedly spoken about the impossibility of negotiations with the Kremlin. Ronzheimer also cites the results of sociology, according to which 72% of Ukrainians oppose negotiations with Moscow.
– Stop the counteroffensive. The Deputy Glavred believes that with this scenario, the Russian army will launch a retaliatory attack and seize new territories, in particular in the Kharkov region. The analyst calls such a scenario terrible for Ukraine.
Recall, the American edition of The Washington Post reported that Ukraine slowed down the pace of the counteroffensive in order to reduce losses on the battlefield. In addition, journalists doubted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine would be able to reach Melitopol, captured by Russia, and cut off the Russian corridor to Crimea before the end of this year.
