Syrian National’s Suicide in Beirut Suburb Suspected of Terrorism: Reports

Beirut, August 19, 2023 (Xinhua) – A person of Syrian nationality committed suicide in the southern suburb of Beirut while being pursued on suspicion of preparing a terrorist act, the official Lebanese (National Media) Agency reported today (Saturday).

The agency said that information reached (Hezbollah) that the Syrian, Wissam Mazen Dallah, from the (Syrian) Al-Tal region, entered Lebanon by stealth, and was responsible for the bombing in the Sayeda Zeinab area in Damascus on the night of the tenth of Muharram, which killed a number of people.

The agency stated that Dallah settled with his relatives in the (Hay al-Salam) area in the southern suburbs of Beirut, and was suspected of preparing to carry out a terrorist act, so he was pursued.

She added that when Dallah learned of his whereabouts, he threw himself from the seventh floor and was taken to St. George Hospital, where he died.

In turn, information from the Lebanese channel (Al-Mayadeen) reported, according to a Lebanese security source, that Dallah is 23 years old and that he was being pursued in Syria. He fled to Lebanon illegally a week ago and hid with his father and brother in an apartment in the suburb.

The channel indicated that Dallah threw himself out of the building during a raid by Hezbollah’s protection unit. /ts/
